Tarmac Challenge #2 Results – 1st Nov 2010
Building on the success of PR Technology’s first Tarmac Challenge, held earlier in the year; the 1st of November 2010, brought about the second round, once again held at the Wakefield Park Raceway.
With 4 different events throughout the day, the Tarmac Challenge had variation not seen in a regular track day. A short circuit sprint, the rare opportunity to race the Wakefield Hillclimb, and a challenging Auto-test were on before lunch. The variation in each event’s style gave no favour to any particular car setup, closing the field and allowing everybody a chance at the title. People were pushing hard at all stages, and there were a number of spin-outs in the quest for the trophies. After lunch the Full Track Sprint was run, with drivers split into speed groups, and some impressive lap times.
Though some suffered mechanical difficulties throughout the day, most were quickly cleared up, and everybody ended up with plenty of track time; there was even time for 2 hours of free practice in the afternoon. In undoubtedly perfect organisational skills, it wasn’t until the conclusion of the winners’ presentation, and the subsequent closing of the event, that the gloomy skies opened up on Goulburn.
Congratulations to Richard Perini, winner of the 2WD class, and Barrie Smith, winner of the 4WD class, and thank you to all involved on the day. We look forward to seeing you at Round 3 of the PR Technology Tarmac Challenge. Make sure to keep watch on the PR Technology Calendar for news of upcoming events.
