Porsche Gearbox Anomaly
In 1972, for a singular year, an anomaly manifested in the 915 gearboxes. In this peculiar circumstance, the input shaft seal was affixed from the interior of the gearbox rather than the exterior. Consequently, replacing this seal necessitates the disassembly of the entire gearbox. What would typically be a straightforward task, facilitated by the removal of the guide tube in subsequent gearbox models, becomes a notably intricate procedure.
